Isaac Averette Team Spotlight

Employee Spotlight: Isaac Averett

We’re excited to highlight Isaac Averett, a Project Manager on our Residential Design team and someone our clients love working with. Isaac’s been part of the Vector family since 2021, and his mix of technical precision, curiosity, and genuine kindness has made him a cornerstone on both our solar and residential teams.

Recent Project He’s Proud Of

Isaac recently served as the design engineer for the Hunter Residence in Southern California — a nearly 9,000 sq ft custom home with two accessory structures (an ADU and cabana).

High seismic loads, challenging soil conditions, and a complex deep foundation system made this a standout project. Isaac worked closely with the client, tackled issues as they came up, and designed the entire structure from the ground up.

It’s the kind of work where Isaac shines: large, detailed, collaborative, and full of problem-solving opportunities.

His Journey to Vector

Isaac’s love for building started early — block towers, Legos, forts, anything he could get his hands on. Even without an engineering background in the family, structural design came naturally.

At BYU, he gravitated toward structural engineering because it blended his passion for architecture with his strength in math. During a remote semester in 2020, a professor encouraged students to seek internships early. That suggestion led Isaac to a (mistakenly still active!) posting for Vector’s solar internship.

He applied anyway — and persisted until the team brought him onboard. From there, he dove in headfirst, learning quickly, asking questions, and consistently taking on more responsibility. After excelling on the solar team, he was invited to assist the residential group, eventually transitioning into full-time work at the end of 2024.

His growth is a perfect example of what we value at Vector: curiosity, grit, and a passion for solving construction challenges before construction begins.

Life Outside of Work

Isaac is a dedicated dad to his 1.5-year-old daughter — his favorite title of all. Most of his free time revolves around family, but he still makes room for a few passions:

  • Basketball fan — became hooked on the NBA after moving to Utah; lifelong Jazz supporter.
  • Hockey convert — he and his wife are now devoted Utah Hockey Club (Mammoth) fans.
  • Magic the Gathering — a weekend ritual with friends and brothers that keeps everyone connected despite busy school schedules.
  • Travel lover — with highlights like a 3-month exchange in Lüneburg, Germany and an unforgettable trip to Paris.
  • Construction nerd (his words!) — he will always pull off the road to admire a jobsite, snap photos, and tell anyone who will listen.

Isaac brings thoughtfulness, humility, and genuine enthusiasm to every project.

Thank you, Isaac, for everything you do for Vector and for our clients!
