From designing towers in the Alaskan permafrost to creating innovative cellular concealment structures, Project Manager Casey Millard brings nearly a decade of specialized expertise to Vector Engineers. Based in our Draper office, Casey has established himself as an expert in multi-legged telecommunications towers and custom foundations since joining the team in September 2014.

Casey’s journey into structural engineering began in Northern Utah where he spent his teenage summers framing cabins near Bear Lake. “I really enjoyed the work and asked myself, ‘why don’t I take it to the top and design the structures?'” he recalls. This early hands-on construction experience led him to pursue both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering at Brigham Young University, in Provo Utah. He began his career here at Vector as a part-time engineer while completing his graduate studies.

Today, Casey’s portfolio includes some of Vector’s most challenging and innovative projects. Among his most notable achievements is the design of several multi-legged towers in remote Alaskan locations, where construction equipment must be transported by helicopter and foundations are specially engineered to account for deep permafrost conditions. He also led the design of a self-supported tower in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, engineered to withstand extraordinary wind speeds of 224 mph.

His creative problem-solving skills shine through in projects like the Berean Baptist Church Tower, a 135-foot tall structure featuring multiple concealment sections, and the Dry Town Faux Water Tank, which cleverly disguises three levels of cellular antennas within a 116-foot tall structure. One of his most distinctive projects involved designing a 10’x57′ logo sign for the 55th story of a Miami high-rise, showcasing his versatility in structural engineering applications.

When he’s not tackling complex engineering challenges, Casey enjoys spending time with his growing family, which includes four children and another on the way. His hobbies reflect his love for both outdoor adventure and home life – from hiking, kayaking, and recreational shooting to perfecting his smoking techniques on his pellet grill. You might find him at Bear Lake, playing tag with his children or enjoying a family fishing expedition.
